One has to wonder why he’s defending Pelosi. He doesn’t just do that because he suddenly feels magnanimous.
He’s probably only doing it because someone else he doesn’t like said mean things about her – so he has to jump in to show how evil this other person he doesn’t like is. Then he’ll be back to insulting Pelosi the moment she makes him annoyed.

Having him support her is actually a good way to undermine Pelosi, and thus Democratic unity. Trump obviously isn’t smart enough to figure that out, but some of his handlers might be.
