There is no evidence that oleandrin is a miracle cure.
Reports of this oleandrin push in the White House have raised eyebrows this week, as there is no evidence that oleandrin works to treat COVID-19 in humans. While oleandrin has been developed to treat cancer, it is still considered an “investigational new drug” that is not an approved cancer treatment in the U.S. What’s more, both oleandrin and the plant it is derived from are toxic to humans and animals; eating one oleander leaf can kill an adult.
Injecting bleach isn’t too healthy either.
Yet Lindell argued on Tuesday that oleandrin is “the miracle of all time,” and that “the tests are out there.” Indeed, he said he was contacted about it as far back as Easter Sunday, when he recalled that he “told the whole country to pray for the end to this pandemic.”
Oh well in that case there’s no more to be said. Bottle them babies up.
But the more Cooper grilled Lindell over any proof that oleandrin is effective against COVID-19, and that it has been tested for this purpose in humans in rigorous peer-reviewed, clinical trials, the more flustered Lindell became. “There has been studies the FDA has not published yet,” Liddell insisted. He repeated that one involved “a thousand people,” but he could offer no details about when or where it was done, or why the public hasn’t seen this report yet.
He said “a thousand people” a lot, in a very impassioned way, as if it were a clincher.

This is why I stopped watching CNN.
Sure, Anderson lays some smack down on this guy. But I will bet you dollars to donuts that this idiot will be back on CNN before the year is out.
Back in 2017, I watched Trump sycophants get caught lying on CNN panel shows. And then get invited back the next week. And I realized that I was the sucker. I was tuning in to watch “Trumper gets PWNED!” But nothing was coming of it. There were no consequences. Swing voters aren’t watching CNN cable shows to see if Trump supporters conduct themselves appropriately, so it doesn’t hurt Trump. The surrogates keep getting invited back, and keep yelling at the FAKE NEWS CNN ANCHOR, so they maintain good standing with Trump and can sell their book or consulting services or whatever.
I’m not blaming Anderson Cooper for this. He runs one hour on CNN, and doesn’t have total control over that. (Although I think he bows to the need for ratings far more than he pretends.) I’m just angry that liars get away with lying. There is no Hollywood moment where this asshole has his credibility destroyed.

I seem to be unable to resist the spectacle of fools exposing their foolery.
Oh, I don’t mean to rain on your enjoyment, or anyone else’s. You aren’t doing any harm by watching, enjoying, and sharing it.
I just found that for me, the cathartic value of these interchanges dropped off quickly when I realized that it wasn’t really a form of accountability.
