Evil

Takes my breath away.

Block that puberty! Take those cross-sex hormones! What could possibly go wrong?!

They’re not just saying we can help, they’re actively pushing puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones. They’re actively encouraging people to ruin their bodies and lives.

It also builds confidence, reduces anxiety and contributes to improved mental health.

See also corsets, hair dyes, tape worm pills and religion. Results not guaranteed. Side effects may include delusions, poor dress sense and acquired asshole condition.

Gender affirming care (GAC) extends beyond just being life-saving healthcare. It also builds confidence, reduces anxiety and contributes to improved mental health.

    Citations needed.

They’re making all these bold claims without evidence, because “service providers” like them don’t bother to track their patients over the long term. They’re hoping that surfing on the placebo effect will be enough over the short term. Over the long term, well, with this next procedure, things will get better still!

Funny how their original purpose, abortion (and by extension, birth control) is now relegated to the final panel as a token gesture towards their former role. But even its bullhorn banner has been painted with the baby blue, pink, and white of the new genderist overlords, which is ironic, since the results of successful provision of the “services” advertised in the preceding two panels renders many (if not most) of the clients using them sterile.

Abortion isn’t gender affirming care though, and Planned Parenthood is beclowning itself by jumping on the trans bandwagon.

I guess you could see puberty blockers and hormone therapy as extreme forms of birth control. Though I don’t think that’s what they’re going for here.

Eliza Mondegreen writes (at UnHerd) about a recent bizarre NYT piece advocating youth gender transition, and in her Substack introduction she notes that the comments on the NYT piece have been quite good. She quoted one she found especially on point:

If you compare “gender affirming care” to rhinoplasty than you are admitting that “gender affirming care” is a superficial, cosmetic surgery. I would be fine with that. Stop calling it life-saving. Stop covering it with insurance. Stop telling parents who don’t want to go along with it that they’re abusive. I have never heard a parent be called abusive for NOT allowing their teen daughter to get breast augmentation. I have not seen campaigns coming out of the HHS saying that kids should learn about rhinoplasty in school and parents should pursue it if their children are insecure about their noses. If you want me think of “sex changes for kids” as being on par with you quitting the swim team, then you need to dial back the “life-saving care” rhetoric by about 1,000 %. Then, maybe, something in this Op-Ed would make sense.

I thought the comment was excellent, and perhaps much more can be made of equating “gender-affirming care” with cosmetic surgery in this manner.

Planned Parenthood has generalized the idea of abortion to one of “bodily autonomy”, and this is where they find an entry point for “gender-affirming care”. I wish they would focus on “reproductive freedom” and not generalize things further.

So “gender affirming care” is the prescription for a child who lacks confidence, or who is anxious (which are normal mental states for children), or one who is mentally ill? How is pumping them full of hormones and surgically altering them going to help with what are clearly mental health issues? It’s insult to injury in the Nth degree. What kind of horribly irresponsible parent would opt for this instead of counseling for their child? How about just telling them no, or you have to wait until you’re older to make those kinds of decisions? Trans ideology is absolutely ruining people’s lives. It’s hard to believe this malicious and dire agenda is being openly promoted by PP and other institutions. Good lord people are stupid.

Found this comment in response to the Eliza Mondegreen piece. I think it sums up the issue quite nicely.

‘Mum, can I have a cigarette?’ ‘No, of course not!’

‘Mum, can I have a glass of wine?’ ‘No, of course not!’

‘Mum, can I drive the car?’ ‘No, of course not!’

‘Mum, can I leave school?’ ‘No, of course not!’

‘Mum, can I get a tattoo?’ ‘No, of course not!’

‘Mum, can I enter the lottery?’ ‘No, of course not!’

‘Mum, can I be a blood donor?’ ‘No, of course not!’

‘Mum, can I begin social, medical and surgical gender transition?’ ‘Of course dear, you know what’s best for you.’

I think that in their continual battles for funding from the government, they raised up their hands in defeat and decided to start taking it from the transhumanist pushers.

I used to be proud to be a safety escort for them. Now, I cringe when I drive by their clinic.

Here’s another comment from the NYT piece noted above by Sackbut via Eliza Mondegreen:

We are consistently being told that sex and gender are not the same thing.

    Let’s assume that’s true.

What then is gender reassignment surgery?

Gender does not exist in any tangible, empirical form — so what exactly requires medication and surgery?

The word gender is a direct synonym of the word sex. It means either male or female under that definition of the word sex. Trans ideology is highly dependent on this kind of semantic contortionism.

    I am not a “pusher”… I resent the implication!

I find putting abortion in there a sinister (and clever) move – associating abortion with trans rights/gender-affriming care can (and will) be used to claim that whoever is against socalled “gender-affirming care” is also against abortion. Another move meant to associate all gender-critical positions with right-wing positions.

  14. twiliter Avatar

Good point Sonderval. Trans ideology, wherever possible, must attach itself to something legitimate. This has been done with LGB most prominently, by implying that gender presentation is the same kind of thing as sexual orientation. It’s striking how widely the T is accepted as a part of LGB when the fundamental differences are so pronounced. It’s as if appearance fetishes or “performativity” have anything to do with the biological facts of same sex attraction. It’s parasitic and has taken more away from LGB than it has ever added. Here it’s attached to abortion in order to imply that trans ideology is also about bodily autonomy, using abortion as the Trojan horse. So if you agree that women should be able to make choices about abortion, then children should also be able to choose what sex they want to be. The inconsistency here is that the question of abortion does not affect girls who are too young to conceive, while gender woo, like religion and other forms of brainwashing, is most effective when it’s introduced at a young age — preferably before puberty when the mind also has much maturing to do. Without the support of a healthy host, much like mistletoe and mosquitoes, trans ideology cannot thrive.
