We do actually

Thick as two short planks.

She probably didn’t write it herself but she did choose to share it despite the obvious stupidities.

Of course we allow “color critical views.” I dislike beige. I’m allowed to say that. Of course we allow “disability critical views.” Disabilities are bad and nobody wants them. I’m allowed to say that. As for “religion critical views” – ever heard of atheism? There are cultures that frown on it and even some that punish it, but the more prosperous and free cultures allow it. I can confirm: I co-wrote a book about God’s apparent hatred of women and I was never visited by the police for doing so.

And so on. Of course people are allowed to say marriage is confining, to say pregnancy is tiring and burdensome, to say sex is a nuisance or boring or filthy or whatever they feel like. Of course we are. We’re also allowed to say Helen Webberley is really bad at thinking.

Just a guess, but I suspect she thinks “XYZ-critical views” means criticizing someone because of their XYZ characteristic, like criticizing someone because of that person’s skin color, or religion, or sex. I doubt she has any idea what “gender critical” views actually are. Even with this mistaken apprehension, she’s still wrong.

Yes, that probably is what the fool who wrote that thing meant (I think Webbz just shared it), but the fool was too much of a fool to say it clearly. It’s an incoherent mess as well as being silly and wrong.

Sorry, OB, but I beg to differ. She/her calls herself ‘Doctor,’ and sticks ‘Dr’ in front of her name. That has to count for something.

The letter is a she/her and calls itself Doctor?

@3 why yes of course…. I have to admit I thought about giving up my PhD work at one point because I met so many people with PhDs who genuinely seemed to lack the ability to actually think. Like, if that’s the case, why should I bother?

We don’t allow ‘sexuality critical’ views

We don’t allow ‘religion critical’ views*

What if you can’t have it both ways? Didn’t Christopher Hitchens have a thing or two to say about that? Yes, he did:

Who said “what if Falwell said he hates fags? What if people act upon that”? The Bible says you have to hate fags. If Falwell says he’s saying it because the Bible says so, he’s right. Yes, it might make people go out and use violence. What are you going to do about that? You’re up against a group of people who will say “You put your hands on our Bible and we’ll call the Hate Speech Police!” Now what are you going to do when you’ve dug that trap for yourself?

    * I guess I’m going to jail then.

“We don’t allow “race critical” views”.

So Doktor Webberley supports the Trump Administration now?

I think we’re also allowed to say Helen Webberley isn’t a doctor anymore, and neither is her husband.
