Candidates must

All you need is to idennify as.

It’s really very odd to word it that way. “Candidates must identify as” – well which is it? Must, or idennify as? The two are in opposition. Must=mandatory, while idennify as is as optional as it gets.

These days of course it’s easy to get away with idennifying as female, but the postdoctoral level researcher is not quite so simple. Or do they just take people’s word for it on that subject too? If so they might as well just let all of us be candidates.

The criterion to “identify as” a woman leaves out entirely those women who reject gender out of hand, and don’t “identify as” anything. Such women aren’t eligible, evidently.

It’s a mess every which way. I wonder why they do it.

Maybe the goal is to exclude trans men. You don’t idennify as a woman? Well that’s you not eligible then, bye bye.

Once you accept that to identify as something is to be that thing, all your doubts and worries will vanish. Just let it go, Ophelia. You know life would be so much less infuriating if you ceased your heretical defiance. So just accept the revealed truth.

Ooohhhh…I really, really hope they get applicants who “identify” as postdoctoral level researchers, and demand to be considered on that basis.

Is that to be read as

“Candidates must identify as [female] postdoctoral level researchers”

    or

“Candidates must identify as [female postdoctoral level researchers]”?

As written it is the latter, meaning (yet again!) the person writing this new age bullshit has the English comprehension of a school-age child.

Indeed. That’s what I meant by my last paragraph.
