Greetings comrades

Sorry for the radio silence – something went awry with the mechanics and I didn’t want to pester the very kind webmaster during the week.

Looks elegant now, doesn’t it!

Ok so Trump. He has clearly gone from creeping dementia to very much speeded up dementia, i.e. he’s fallen off a cliff. He can’t talk clearly, and he can’t make sense when he talks. I’m now thinking he’ll make haste to drop all the nukes out of spite, because if he’s going to crash out so is everyone else.

I’ll catch up tomorrow.

“Elegant” isn’t what came to mind. “Rudimentary” was my first thought, quickly followed by “provisional.”

I’m glad B&W is back in some form, though.

Yes, Trump is making continually less sense. I wonder how Mohammed Bin Salman will respond to Trump saying MBS is kissing his ass.

It was getting quite lonely out here . . .

I am pleased that they haven’t come for you. Yet.

Glad to have this island of sanity back. And glad to know you’re well.

I’m glad you’re all right! (Not that I was too worried; I figured something was wrong with the website since the search bar wasn’t working anymore.)

The new design does feel a bit off – too sparse, perhaps – but I think I’d get used to it.

Different always does feel a bit off at first, in my experience – then we get used to it and it doesn’t anymore.

I like the new design. I wouldn’t call it sparse, but it is somewhat minimalist. Which is fine – the text is the important bit, and it gets to stand alone.

First of all, it’s responsive, where the old design was not. Which means, the layout adapts to the screen size. I can read it on my phone now! I could before, but it required supreme effort, so I never did it. The font size is more sensible now, and if you don’t like it, use the zoom facilities in your web browser. Thanks to the responsive design, it will remain readable.

And it limits the length of the text lines, which is supremely important, especially on a big screen. It helps readability, by a lot. The same goes for the line spacing, which seems absolutely fine to me.

White space? I might have been a little less generous with vertical white space if it were my design, but not by a whole lot. As for horizontal white space, well you get wide margins on a big screen in order to avoid overly long text lines. See above. But on the phone, they get too wide. I made some remarks to that effect over in the miscellany room.

One side effect of improved readability: The very moment my long comment was published, the first thing I noticed is a mistyped word. But that’s life.

    And one more! Good grief.

I personally prefer longer text lines. I understand that’s not the case for most people.

But, having grown increasingly frustrated with web browsers, I’ve been trying to gradually switch to Lynx. That takes care of the issue for me.

Heh! Fret not – my one talent is proofreading. I correct typos.

One thing I appreciate about this new look is that I don’t have to type in my name and email every time I post from my phone.

Nice to see B&W is back again. I was getting concerned.

I have said it before, and I’ll say it again. I really think the Illuminati have lowered their standards lately. These evil brotherhoods used to have lofty goals like world conquest and the New World Order, and now they’re reduced to introducing embarrassing typos into people’s comments on blogs. And not only that, but covfefe. Kind of pathetic actually… :-/

Interesting – I guess the only thing I’d point out is that you can’t see from the blog page itself whether there are any comments on posts (I hadn’t realised there were any on this one, or that it was even possible to comment, until I clicked the header).

The time and date highlighted above the commenter’s name is a little weird. That could be flipped around in my opinion. It’s more difficult to see who’s saying what.

Thank you, Josh. And although my morning routine is not sancrosanct, the bit missing made my coffee less enjoyable. I’m glad to see B&W intact and freshened a bit.
