The “she” Maugham is referring to is Barbara Rich.

I can – remember, we are dealing with people who consider it bigoted to say simple facts, if those facts challenge their politics. Who knows, Barbara Rich may have genocided a trans person inadvertently by saying their true sex, or their old name. These people will scream bloody murder at the drop of a hat, though I suppose there is always the question of how performative it might be.

Is it possible that the “junior female colleagues” that Maugham references are in fact, Maugham’s colleagues? That might have read one of Rich’s tweets, statements or other communications (indeed, perhaps a slanderous article which alleged she tortured puppies or something), and those junior female colleagues were then overcome with upset feelings?
Plus, it’s Jolyon who is describing these colleagues as “female”, meaning there’s absolutely no reason to take him at his word. For all we know, Barbara Rich tweeted that female bathrooms should be female only, and Maugham’s junior male colleagues got the vapours because they realised it meant someone might keep them out of female bathrooms.
