And while I’m in solipsistic vein, and besides I’m even later than usual, I will point out that B&W is another year older, and more. Last year I celebrated on the 16th of September, so I’m a whole entire calendar month late by that standard, and that standard was already late anyway, so I’m metaLate.
B&W is (more than) eight years old. That’s, like, 40 thousand years in butterfly time. B&W is older than the oldest Galápagos tortoise, older than the redwoods, older than the wingéd trilobites, older than bacteria, older than water, older than the sun.
But thanks to a healthy constitution, maintained by daily walks and a quart of wine every evening, and thanks to Josh Larios and Cam Larios, B&W survives and flourishes. Happy boitday.

I don’t remember when I first came here, but I recognized it immediately as one of the great outposts of civilization on the web. And as the rest becomes more fashionably nonsensical, B&W becomes more valuable.
Happy belated blog birthday! I can’t remember how long I’ve been reading Butterflies and Wheels, but I feel as if Ophelia has been inspiring me forever! I have a saved quote from 2003, so I think I’ve been a regular for at least that long.
Congrats, Ophelia. I’ve only started reading B&W relatively recently, but I think it’s great. It’s entertaining, thought-provoking, considered, good-humoured and unapologetically to the point. The regulars’ erudite and thoughtful comments are wonderful too.

Happy B&W Birthday! Keep up the good work, OB! You are doing an absolutely marvellous job pointing out to the world, serious wrong-doings (such as child abuse) of religious fanatics at the expense of your popularity and ‘niceness’ by some folk. The constant suffering and demise of women and young girls, at the hands of misogynists, and sexism needs to be highlighted over and over again.
On behalf of victims/survivors of institutional abuse I would like to thank B&W for being a presence; as we desperately tried to articulate our pain & suffering over over the years. Our thumping and banging has now gone on Vatican ears.
