It’s eerily similar to the lead-up to August 1914. Trump clearly believes that any US action against Mexico, Europe, or wherever cannot possibly provoke a response that could harm US interests. Pity this is the first time he has ever held any public office: he might have learned something useful.
Trump bans Muslims. So Iran bans Americans, (putting upwards pressure on the price of say, Persian carpets in the US.) And so on it goes.
Trump believes the US should have grabbed Iraq’s oil while it had the chance .But Iran’s floating on a sea of oil. It can manipulate supply as it chooses to, and use its clout in OPEC to effect. So Trump responds by pouring more US resources into Canadian tar sands and drilling in Alaska.
And so we stumble on towards this century’s Sarajevo, but this time a combination of environmental disaster, militarism and muddle.

And a lot of Trump voters think this will be a good thing. They don’t care about the environment, they just want to drive their SUVs and pour gas into them cheap. Never mind the external costs. They don’t see those, because taxes take care of them.
Wait, Trump is going to cut taxes? He’s going to gut environmental protections? He’s going to get rid of health care? Well, okay, at least he’s going to protect white people. No, friends, he’s going to protect rich white people (and probably people of color who are in the billionaire status, too, there just aren’t as many of those).

And, as noted in a previous post. Trump’s ban does not include ANY of the countries from which the 9/11 killers originated. Its vicious, illegal, stupid, worthless for security, and bottomlessly hypocritical.
