216 births, 216 male babies

From Hindustan Times:

At a time when the Central government has been aggressively promoting its ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ scheme, sex ratio at birth data from 132 villages in Uttarkashi district reveal that no girl child was born in these areas in the last three months.

According to official data, 216 children were born in 132 villages of the district in the last three months. However, not a single girl was among the newborns which has left the district administration baffled.

Well not really “baffled.” Frustrated maybe, but not baffled.

Speaking to ANI, social worker Kalpana Thakur alleged that zero girl child birth clearly indicated the prevalence of female foeticide. “No girl child was born for three months in these villages. It cannot be just a coincidence. This clearly indicates female foeticide is taking place in the district. The government and the administration are not doing anything.”

One has to wonder how they think all those sons are going to have children themselves.

I assume those fetuses were asked how they identify before they were aborted, as we all know “biological sex” is an invention of white colonialists and women are oppressed on the basis of their gender identity.

Well that’s easy. There must be a good number of trans girls amongst those asigned male at birth babies. Some puberty blockers, a bit of surgery and lifelong hormonal treatment. Voila! boys and girls. It’s like loaves and fishes! And I’m sure that later in life at least some of those AMAB babies will identify as six year old girls. Bonus!

    Oh.

You mean actual real babies that come out the front holes of gestators? Sorry, no. Maybe they can wish on a glittery rainbow and pray for a miracle, and have some children that way. Then they can “arrange” things to end up wth all boy children again.

Besides, children are just a social construct.

    Trans women are women, period.

Female foeticide, or a 1 in approximately 105,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 chance of 216 consecutive male births. Difficult decision.

Let’s see if I can predict the cycle. Those men able to partner up with a woman “win” while the rest are considered “losers” who become the next wave of incels. Rape will increase, and women raped become shameful to the family for their ‘impurity’ and will quite possibly be murdered by family as a result. Oh and don’t forget that while some portion of the incels resort to rape, others will use acid instead… and women will be the ones to suffer, no matter the weapon of choice.

…And then the pool of women shrinks further, exacerbating everything generation by generation.

This phenomenon is so mind-bogglingly stupid. The amount of status the lone girl in one of those villages would have beggars belief. But everyone is too blinkered to see it.

Nullius, I don’t think you’re properly yoking though the implications of being the *only* girl in your generation, given that your society is so pathologically misogynist that all of your fellow girls were snuffed out.

Think less Mean Girls and more Children of Men, with a little Mad Max thrown in.

    ‘Status’. Some status. Some life.

Fair enough, but I was really looking at it from the perspective of the parents. Even adopting their perfectly misogynistic worldview where males have most or all of the intrinsic value, there has to be an inflection point where the extrinsic value of a new female exceeds the intrinsic value of a new male. As Ophelia said, “One has to wonder how they think all those sons are going to have children themselves.”

During the period of the Tai Ping, there were other major social disruptions in China. One was called the ‘Bare Branch’ rebellion. A large district had several years of bad harvests and extensive economic depression. The population had responded with massive femicide, producing a generation of men with no families. I don’t know if they generated an Incel philosophical justification, but they launched into violence just the same.

Holms @ 6 – pretty much. There’s been reporting on it; I’ve posted about some of the reporting but it was a long time ago. The absence of female people produces even more violence against women. Lose-lose.

Yes, that seems like such an obvious question. Then again, lots of people doing what seems like the rational thing to do on a personal level but leads to disaster when done collectively is such a constant of human behaviour: over-fishing, over-hunting, over-logging, over-grazing, burning fossil fuels, strikebreaking, the list goes on.

Alex SL: it’s like the wastewater treatment plant where I live. Their argument when they didn’t want to reduce the nitrates is “like our small town makes a big difference in the Gulf of Mexico dead zone!” No, it doesn’t. If it was the only small (city, not town) that was putting nitrates into the water, everything would be hunky dory. It is the collective action that matters, and we all (no matter how small our contribution) have to be part of the problem or part of the solution.

Behavior that is locally rational vs globally rational: the tragedy of the commons. In case anyone didn’t already know. It essentially boils down to a problem with greedy algorithms. A similar case is Braess’s paradox.
