    “KILL THE TERF”

Trans-Exclusionary Radical Feminist. That group of feminists that claims that trans women aren’t really women, as biological determinism is only a fallacy when it used against them, not when they use it against others.

Isn’t it mindboggling that the Royal College of Psychiatrists would invite a TERF like Julie Bindel to come talk at a study day on transgenderism and transsexuality? That’s like inviting Fred Phelps to come deliver the keynote at a gay pride.

So as I understand the profundity of the T shirt as shown in the photo, it is actually TIRF: trans-inclusive radical feminist, and calling for TIRF opponents to be liquidated.

The mind innocent like mine, boggles all right. Mind-bogglery all round. Faith and to be sure.

    Eh? You’ve lost me.

Omar wasn’t kidding about his mind being boggled. That’s the worst case of boggled mind I’ve ever seen.

I think he is saying the person wearing the shirt is a TIRF who wants to kill TIRF opponents, and that is somehow shocking. Maybe because they’re saying they’re inclusionary so they shouldn’t want to kill people?

On a side note, I’m disappointed in that urban dictionary definition. Their “gotcha” about biological determinism doesn’t actually make sense.

Urban dictionary was the first thing my google search turned up; for whatever reason. And Skeletor:

That’s the worst case of boggled mind I’ve ever seen.

Before I start goo… goo… goooooogling for a psychiatrist, surely an exaggeration?

No, the gotcha about biological determinism makes no sense at all unless one just ignores what feminism means by it, which is: the belief that biology determines everything it’s convenient for it to determine if you want to keep women down, such as life chances, abilities, inclinations, etc. It’s thinking women are born to wash dishes while men are born to fly fighter jets.

Totally irrelevant to the fact that women are not men and men are not women.

Well, as Elton John said in another context: “Don’t shoot me, I’m only the piano player.”

I just read all about it all in good old Wikipedia. I think I’ve got a bit of a handle on it all now, and am far less boggled in mind. Could even be in an enlightened state, like some Nepalese yogi meditating beneath Mt Everest. Put me in mind for something that might express it.

So I went straight from Wikipedia to the glorious Prisoners’ Chorus from Fidelio.

I’m far, far, far less boggled now.

    ;-)

For mind disembogglement in regard to feminist thought on transgender issues, I have found the recent articles by Jane Clare Jones and Kathleen Stock to be particularly helpful.

Permit me also to recommend Robert Jensen’s book “The End of Patriarchy: Radical Feminism for Men”. The “for men” aspect is helpful because it presumes no familiarity with feminist writing, so it is from the ground up. Jensen is a very accessible writer who has done his research and is supportive of radical feminism. (“Radical” meaning “from the root” rather than “extreme”, in case that was unclear.)

There are a great many other good writers on these topics (Rebecca Reilly-Cooper, Miranda Yardley, and so on). I hesitate to suggest either Google searches or Wikipedia because trans activists have gamed both of those resources, and certain information is missing or buried.

Of course, it’s entirely possible Omar was being sarcastic and not actually mind-emboggled; if so, my error, I hope the post was useful anyway. :-)

I must be having a really slow day. How did we (Omar), get from TERF to TIRF, and reverse the apparent message on the T-shirt?

  10. Holms Avatar

Rob, I think Omar was the one that had a slow moment, not you. Luckily it was acute rather than chronic, but I hope it isn’t recurrent; unboggling a reemboggling so soon after being self-disemboggled is tiring work. And antiretrodisunemboggling is best not even mentioned.

Science desperately needs an anti-boggle vaccine.

“KILL THE TERF”! But it’s questioning the more extreme trans claims that’s hate speech? Riiiiight.

It’s great to see woke men on Twitter applauding this person for their strong stance on trans women’s rights (by which I mean advocation of violence against people who disagree with their definition of “woman”.)
