Pause for reflection
Apparently this Louis Staples guy went on shit-tweeting about Helen Lewis for hours after his first barrage, and then – uh oh – must have had a tap on the shoulder from a higher up at the Independent (where he is a columnist).
Do we believe he’s sincere? No.
He plans to reflect on “this.” How much reflection does it take? How much does it take to grasp the complicated and subtle point that you don’t spend six hours shit-tweeting lies about people, and that a man doing that to a woman is not a great look?
Want to know why the trans “movement” got so popular so fast? This is why. It gives men who fancy themselves progressive cover to vomit misogyny all over women while keeping their woke credentials.
Drunk with woke power? Or just drunk?
He may have been literally drunk, who knows, but even then the form it took was woke-drunk.
The “babe” and “hun” should have got him a bollocking from his superiors and, I hope, for any women in his life – friends, colleagues, mother. It’s utterly demeaning to use that to a woman in a public conversation. Also it sounds like he’s 14 years old. And saying your colleagues all bad-mouth you! Has this guy got out of high school yet?
I saw something of this in twitter and couldn’t believe it came from a journalist using his own name.
Cripes – just checked and he’s a deputy editor at the Independent! I’d expect that from of the nastier public schoolboys at the Spectator, in frolicsome mood.
(Sorry – random posting) – Helen Lewis accepts the apology and suggests we move on. That’s more class than I could manage in her position.
I mentioned Stuart Campbell aka Wings Over Scotland in another post. He has been banned for life from Twitter for calling Staples a c*nt (typical Campbell, he is grossly abusive). Campbell is a horrible human being who brought a lot of nastiness to the Scottish independence referendum. He has a bunch of minions who will mob anyone who displeases him. He can’t disagree civilly, he has to swear at and abuse people. A disgusting moment of his concerned one of the Unionist writers who took exception to his figures for an economic case for an independent Scotland. This guy, Kevin Hague, is a measured fellow, and was very influential with his graphs and numbers. He also, in one posting, talked of his difficult upbringing and mental health problems. The vile Campbell then called him Mental Kev. Campbell is admitted by his fellow Nationalists to being a liability to their cause.
He has very much taken against the Gender Recognition Act under consultation by the Scottish government and supported by Nicola Sturgeon, the First Minister. His objection – which I totally sympathise with (bleh) – is that it gets you into an Orwellian world of being forced to say two plus two equals five, otherwise you will be in trouble. I will not link to him, but he makes the point that it’s not his abuse and swearing that has got him expelled from the Garden of Twitter, but his anti-trans ideology, which is probably true. He thinks it’s a mass plot from Scottish National Party members to get him to shut up, the day before the Gender Recognition Act was release.
Others are now at his blog, some complaining that he is causing damage to the independence movement and this issue should be sorted after independence which is like true socialism for a certain kind of leftie, one that must take precedence over all injustices in the here and now, since they will of course be magically sorted in the new Paradise. Others of course are disgusted with his transphobia, while another lot support his stance.

He’s been suspended for “hateful conduct”. Now hateful is an accurate description of Campbell’s usual modus operandi. He is highly hateful. But this hatefulness is only crimeworthy in twitterland re trans issues, including against women who don’t swear and abuse.
