Because

Dawn Ennis, trans woman and Managing Editor of http://Outsports.com, explains why trans woman CeCé Telfer was such a slam dunk choice for athlete of the year:

They chose a man who “identifies as” a woman as female athlete of the year because it’s such an excellent poke in the eye to all female athletes, and because they’re all about the male entitlement, and because they like taking away the few prizes women are eligible for, and because they’re malicious shits.

Those who object: let’s see you do that.

Judging by the responses to her tweet, she got her New Year’s wish.

    We chose CeCé because

    [1]she made history, and:

[2]Because she excelled at her sport, and:

[3]Because she did so despite incredible adversity, and:

[4]Because she exemplified what it means to be an outstanding female athlete.

Reasons 1-3 are all caused – wholly or in part – by being male. And 4 is just a lie.

The judges were two gay men and a transwoman? I see no conflict there, do you?

Yeah, no woman ever made history, excelled at sport, did so despite incredible adversity, and exemplified what it means to be an outstanding female athlete. Nope, women cannot exemplify female; only transwomen are women now.

Holms – 3 is a lie too. He DIDN’T excel at his sport; he didn’t “excel” at it until he competed against women. There’s a word for that.
