How every disaster movie starts
The “let’s smear Fauci” plan doesn’t seem to be going all that well.
I've known Tony Fauci for years. He is a consummate professional whose advice has been sought out and respected by Presidents of both parties. These attacks on him are disgusting and say more about those leveling them than about Dr. Fauci. https://t.co/GARizcNM4s

.@Acosta to @PressSec with the question of the day: "Why is the White House trashing Dr. Fauci and sending out opposition research like memos to reporters? The president has gone off on anonymous sources in the past. Why not have the guts to trash Dr. Fauci with your own names?"

Beto O’Rourke on surging coronavirus cases in Texas: “This virus is out of control, with no leadership from our governor, no leadership from the president, who as you mentioned is tweeting out health guidance from [ex-game show host] Chuck Woolery instead of Dr. Fauci.” pic.twitter.com/s1iiwBxW8e

A lot of things happening make me think of an old disaster movie, Deep Impact. “If the world does go on, it will not go on for everyone” – Morgan Freeman. For Trump, that could be said as a dismissive shrug.
But then there is this: “They’re not scared of dying. They’re just scared of looking bad on TV.”
