It seems that Biden is now far enough ahead in Pennsylvania that it’s game over.
Biden will almost certainly pull off a comfortable win in Pennsylvania with 40,000 to 100,000 votes depending on who’s back of the envelope math you want to believe. But, the state may not be called for a few hours yet.
Speaking at a press conference, Philadelphia mayor Jim Kenney was asked for his response to Trump’s baseless accusations of voter fraud in the city.
Kenney replied, “I think what the president needs to do is, frankly, put his big boy pants on. He needs to acknowledge the fact that he has lost, and he needs to congratulate the winner.”
No doubt Princess Ivanka will persuade him to do the reasonable adult big boy pants thing.
Oops. I guess not.

Well, the way I understand it, there comes a point when the lead is big enough that it looks as if there’s no way the loser can catch up, even though it’s not yet solid enough to call officially. The eggs won’t be hatched until it’s official but the chicks are peeping.

Quite so. Yesterday I wasn’t saying it because nobody was saying it. The clock ticks on, more votes get counted (slowly), and the situation changes. It’s not yet certain, because it hasn’t been declared, but there’s a trend.

Trumps defines an “illegal vote” as one received after the polls (or “poles”, as he tweets it) closed on Nov. 3. But he doesn’t get to decide that. Individual states have made their own definitions for when absentee/mail-in votes can be validly received since the civil war; it’s not his decision. Here in Washington, the ballot must be post-marked by 11/3. In Colorado it must be received by 11/3. Two different states, two different systems, and the federal government has no right to meddle with that. The SCOTUS should have no say in how votes are cast if the state has already set up a consistent system. Gore v. Bush was a totally different deal; SCOTUS in that case was not dealing with the legality of votes or when they were cast; it was all about whether the recount should continue or not. Trump has no chance of using his cynical nomination of ACB to the court to turn around the momentum of what is going on right now.
