Papa needs a brand new plane
Trump’s plane had an engine failure last weekend and had to make an emergency landing. Therefore, naturally, he is begging people to give him money to make a new one, which he absurdly calls “Trump Force One.” I can think of better words than “force” in that name.
“I have a very important update on my plane, but I need to trust that you won’t share it with anyone,” wrote Trump in the newly released email. “My team is building a BRAND NEW Trump Force One.”
He needs to trust that the people on his mailing list won’t share it with anyone, so that’s why he sends it out to his mailing list. Does he think they’re that stupid?
Time and time again, I have thought “not even Trump is stupid enough to _________” only for him to do exactly that. I have now given up thinking this. He is exactly as stupid as the most brain-dead conservative lout, and I can only speculate that it is because he was stupid to begin with, and since then has spent decades surrounded by yes-men and the insulation from consequence that is granted by absurd wealth.
Since he’s good at grift, and always trying to avoid taxes, why doesn’t he just start a church to collect the funds? He could call the church “2 Corinthians.”

Trump is a fool and his followers are dupes, but I think even they understand (on both sides) that his request for secrecy here is a kind of performative intimacy, rather than a serious attempt at communications security. It’s like a stand-up comedian who tells a joke at his own expense, and then implores the audience, “But don’t tell my wife!”
What is astounding is that some of these people will actually give him money to buy a new airplane (or whatever he does with his money).

Yes, I read it as a pure marketing gimmick, of the sort one used to see on 3am infomercials. And we know what Trump will do with the money; he will spend it on lavish things for himself and his family, stiff the contractors building the plane, and dare them to sue him to recover what he had initially promised them and reneged on once the job was done.
With the track record he has, it’s a wonder that anyone would start building or renovating anything for him without cash up front. If I owned a restaurant, I wouldn’t serve him a bread stick without cash on the table.
And with cash up front you would serve him? Come on. Of course you wouldn’t.
God can you imagine the joy of getting the chance to tell Trump to fuck off, right to his face? It would be worth opening a restaurant.
As I understand it, the plane he was on the other night that had an engine failure was loaned to him by a donor. The replacement plane was also loaned by another donar. So he wasn’t even using his own aircraft for the trip. What is even more bizarre is that his PAC’s have collected huge amounts of money since the election – hundreds of millions of dollars. Who knows where that money is actually going – probably lining a lot of pockets in the name of expenses and consulting etc. He certainly doesn’t need to separate a rube from his money to afford a new aircraft though.
