A white Christian country
Ok now I get it. Tucker Carlson on Fox tells us the Democrats hoaxed us about them there servers to cover up “The WikiLeaks scandal.”
The DNC’s servers, they claimed, had been hacked by the Russian military. The goal was to hurt Hillary Clinton, whom the Russians feared for her strength and wisdom, and to help Donald Trump, whom they controlled. Russia hacked the servers, in order to hack the election. That was their story. The Washington Post ran with it the first day, as if it were true.
Says the guy who runs with so many things, as if they were true.
But there was never any evidence that it was true. Almost seven years later, there is still no evidence. The DNC’s story about its servers is a lie. But, as a political strategy, that lie worked flawlessly. Russia made the perfect villain. It was a White, Christian country with a traditional social structure. It was everything the Democratic Party already opposed. The foreign policy apparatus in Washington was happy to hate Russia again.
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh I see. Russia is white Christian, so it’s awesome, not just its people and its very very very big country, but its Dear Leader. Him especially.
Russia is white, yes, but Christian? According to the CIA world factbook, Russia is 15-22% Christian. It is 10-15% Muslim. The rest are listed as non-believers, or believers in a non-traditional religion.
But it’s Tucker Carlson. It’s not like we expect him to get his facts straight or anything. If Russia is the best buddy, Russia must be Christian.
I think he probably means “Christian” the way he means “white” – not so much literally or universally or factually but in some fuzzy background sense. The tsars were a Christian thing, so what else do we need to know?! Russia, Oklahoma, it’s all the same thing.
Russia may not be Christian in the way that Saudi Arabia is Muslim, but make no mistake, Shirtless Horsey Rider Boy has allied himself with the Russian Orthodox Church and they are as important to his support as Evangelicals are to the GOP.
Dozens of bearded men in dresses can be seen at all official Russian government occasions.
Private Eye No. 1570, p. 10 reports “Putin realized that pro-Trump American evangelicals offered him a foothold in the west. Franklin Graham, son of Billy, denounces homosexuals as “the enemy” and damns Islam as “an evil and very wicked religion.” Graham has praised [Putin] for “protecting young people against homosexual propaganda”. In February 2022, as Russian forces massed on the border of Ukraine, Graham asked his Facebook followers to “pray for Putin”. … [Franklin Graham] could still be sabotaged by ill health. Last November he had surgery to treat pericarditis–a hardening of the heart.”
Graham is also a familiar of the head of the Russian Orthodox Church.
