Calling a trans woman a ‘w—-r’ is discriminatory because the insult is commonly used in reference to men, an employment tribunal has suggested.
“We suggest you call her a ‘cunt’ instead,” the panel suggested.
The swear word is not a gender-neutral term and so using it against someone who has transitioned would constitute a breach of equality laws, a panel concluded.
To insult a trans woman without being discriminatory, female-specific slurs should be used instead, the tribunal suggested.
What a glorious future awaits us, as all the feminist women are locked up and female-specific slurs fill the air.
Its ruling came after a trans bus driver sued the company where she had been working for gender reassignment discrimination. Amanda Fischer claimed that another employee called her a “w—-r”.

She lost her case after the panel decided the “w—-r” incident had not actually occurred.
But if it had – IF IT HAD, by golly – that would have been discriminatory and transphobic.
The bus company argued – typical bus company hegemony! – that “wanker” is gender-neutral. The panel said nooooo it’s not.
Employment judge Kathryn Patricia Ramsden said: “Despite the [company’s] position, the Tribunal does not consider the insult ‘w—-r’ to be a gender-neutral term.
“The panel members’ own experiences of use of that term is that it is applied to men, and that there are equivalent but different swear words that are specifically used in common parlance to insult women.”
Excuse me, excuse me! Not equivalent! “Wanker” is not equivalent to “cunt”! Ask any wanker and any cunt!
Okay, this is twigging the bit of my brain that gets fascinated by idiosyncracies of humanity. In this case, it’s that the male epithet is a “nouned verb” (“wanker” = “One who wanks”), whereas the female epithet is a simple noun. Technically, the equivalent to “cunt” would be “dick” (which really, really lacks the same level of hostile disdain and vulgarity–it should by all rights be “cock”, but I almost never see that used as an epithet for a man, rather than as an obscenity in its own right).
Most other “male” epithets seem to fall into the nouned verb category–motherfucker, cocksucker, and so on. (It’s odd, really, that I never hear a woman being referred to as a ‘cocksucker’, now that I think about it.) “Son of a bitch” is the only common one other than “dick” that immediately comes to mind, and of course, that’s more of a slur against the guy’s mother.
Meanwhile, I can’t think of any verbed nouns for women–it’s all “cunt”, “bitch”, “slut”, etc. So men get hit with a kind of active epithet, while those used against women cast them as passive objects.
Hm… One other exception comes to mind, and it’s a very odd one–I don’t know why, but I almost never hear “asshole” targeted at a woman.
In the UK, I’m led to believe, “cunt” is a gender-neutral insult. It’s used against men and women both. It’s not a female-specific insult at all!
So I’m not allowed call Colin Montgomery or Jonathan Willoughby wankers?

In the U.S. calling a man a cunt is equivalent to calling him a pussy or a bitch. Inferior men are often referred to in those terms, because women are regarded as inferior people to patriarchal types. I think it’s a little different in the U.K. colloquially, but it probably means the same thing. Calling a woman a cunt in the U.S. is pretty high on the insult scale, but I’m not sure it has the same impact in the U.K.
Wanker is not common in the U.S. unless you have a touch of Anglophilia. ;)
I am not a grammarian, logophile, or British, but isn’t wanking the general term for masturbation, regardless of the sex or gender of the, um, practitioner?
Calling a woman a cunt in the U.S. is off the charts. It’s not even an insult, it’s something beyond that, which I don’t know how to name.
“Cunt,” vile as it is, is sometimes coupled with intensifiers to makes its vileness even more vile. The most common is “fucking,” as in “fucking cunt.” The “k” and short “u” sounds work together effectively.
But the best intensifier I’ve even heard used is “hairy.” The halo of vileness created by the epithet “hairy cunt” is simply unparalleled.

Well it’s obvious, isn’t it. If you’re insulting a transwoman, you must use female-specific slurs. If you’re insulting a black person, you must use race-specific -ah no, wait.
