From high up

This is cool. With the right lens you can clearly see Puget Sound and Lake Washington from 438 miles up.

You can even see Lake Samamish, east of Lake Washington and much smaller.

    Dear Ms. Benson:

Thank you for your appreciative post on your Butterflies and Wheels blog concerning the Terra satellite photo of northwest Washington.

However, we must respectfully deny your request for “a seat the next time it’ll be passing over”.

    It was worth a try.

Is that more impressive than a clear day in Seattle?

Oh it’s all too regularly clear here in summer – smoggy, but cloudless.

Ha. Reminds me of that time my sister went from South Wales to Bristol, and then flew to Ireland. She managed to take a photo of our area as the plane passed over and sent it to me with the comment “I can seeee youuuuu”. She was barely exaggerating at all, you could definitely make out our house.
