Well I think Isla Bryson is at it if I’m honest, I think they’re a dangerous individual, a deceptive individual, I don’t think they’re a true trans woman, I think they’re trying to play the system for personal advantage; now what I can’t do, Sophie, is I can’t change law: the law, which has been the law for many many years, allows Isla Bryson to self-identify as a woman if they wish. I I I I think they’re at it, I don’t think they’re a genuine trans woman so I wouldn’t describe them in that way. What I would say is we need to be really careful in this discussion, because what we can’t do is roll back the rights for those trans women, the 99.9 percent who don’t commit any crime, to live their lives like you and I do, not interfering with anybody else’s rights. What we can’t do is regress and and and decide to curtail people’s rights because of one despicable individual, so no, I don’t believe Isla Bryson is truly and genuinely a trans woman.
I wonder where he got that 99.9 percent. I suspect he got it out of his ass. I also wonder how he thinks he knows it’s such a very very very rare thing for men to pretend to be trans women in order to play the system for personal advantage. I also wonder why he isn’t more concerned about the obvious danger to women this whole religion is.
He evidently agrees with the law that allows men to self-ID as women, and also says Bryson isn’t telling the truth about him being a woman. That contradicts the law though, because it doesn’t matter if they’re lying or not, all that’s required is that a man assert they’re a woman and maintain that assertion. Sometimes the law is an ass.
If we set up a system where questioning whether one is “truly trans” (I KNOW) then that is transphobic. So, the prison system can’t win. More importantly to us, women can’t win. And you Yousless, that is less important.
My emphasis; does it, though? As far as I can tell, the lesbian-exclusionary Stonewall has spent years pretending to various organisations (either too lazy or complicit to find out for themselves) that the law does say that, when it actually doesn’t. Scottish prisons have been incarcerating dangerous men in women’s prisons in defiance of common sense and compassion because of a law which doesn’t exist.
So, you’re all just going to leave it to me to make the “No True Scotswoman” joke?

What criteria is he (or anyone else) using to determine which men are “truly” trans, and which ones aren’t? Women have been saying it for years: there’s no difference, and no way to tell a difference, between one man who claims to be a woman, and any other man who claims to be a woman. The only thing that we all know is always true, is that men are not women, even if they declare that they are.
I agree with maddog. They’re indistinguishable. Can he produce even one man who claims to be a woman who is not doing so to ‘play the system’? Of course not. They’re all doing it. If he can declare a man to be not a transwoman, then we all can. He doesn’t have special privileges, and no man should get any by claiming to be a woman.
And I scrolled all the way to the bottom to make that joke! Now I’m tired, think I’ll go have a lie down.

They are not wanting to live their lives like you and I do; they want to be special, noticed, the center of attention at all times. They want all things centered on them. I do not live my life like that, and I doubt anyone on this site does. I do know a few people who want that, and a few that expect it, but most people I know live their lives being who they are, the sex they were born, whether they are happy in their bodies or not (and I know a lot of people who are not happy with their bodies, which is why the diet scams succeed so well).

So the most important thing in all of this is not the health and safety of women, but continued male access to women’s spaces.
Maybe he’s staking a claim so that when “rights” get “rolled back”, trans activists can demand the return of something that was never theirs to begin with. As you’ve noted, “Stonewall Law” has been doing this for years. Those gullible enough to believe their version of statutes might see following the law as it actually is as a “removal” of “rights” they’re “losing.”
Suggesting this for trans identified people is exactly the same as wanting them all DEAD!

I wish to apologise for my previous use of the word ‘trans’ and ‘TRA’ as in ‘Trans Rights Activists’. The latter is, of course, meant to evoke the similar ‘MRA’, Men’s Rights Activists’, who are nothing of the sort. Henceforth, I shall refer to both as the Unreasonable Demands Of Narcissists, or UDON. I shall have a Resisting UDON flag. My symbol will be white noodles in a violet bowl, garnished with green leaves, on a background of green, white, and violet stripes.
So here we have one of the Emperor’s courtiers, claiming to be able to tell the difference between Imperial couture and mere nudity.
If women do this it’s called “gatekeeping.” Funny how men are allowed to decide who’s really trans and women aren’t. Funny how this sort of latent capability only seems to manifest itself after the alleged trans person does something embarrassing or disreputable to the “trans community.” Oh yes, and that “embarrassing or disreputable” thing is a rape or assault. Just like the Catholic Church, the important thing is to protect the Good Name of the Community, not to protect actual victims or potential victims.
Well you see women have a vested interest, so that makes them biased, while men don’t give a shit either way, which makes them impartial and credible.
tigger, you had to go and do it. Now I want udon noodles for lunch; unfortunately, all I have is a veggie enchilada. (Don’t feel too sorry for me; it’s an excellent veggie enchilada, stuffed with yummy veggies.)
I apologise, iknklast. I have a son who cooks udon noodles to perfection; unfortunately for us, he’s at university in another country. It’s fortunate for his student friends, though, as he’s happy to cook for them, too, and they’re Japanese.
This may be difficult to read at a distance. There is a danger that the noodles might come across as worms of some kind. And, thinking of the focus groups this will be put through, can you perhaps use Noodles of Colour? It would help forestall the accusations of WHITE cisheteronormative colonialism that pale noodles are likely to provoke.
Your choice of garnish will, of course, be crucial. As soon as you commit to a particular herbaceous adornment, you will immediately lose the interest and support of people with preferences for other plants/cuisines. Then there’s the differentiation of the purple and green used in the bowl/garnish from the purple green stripes. I foresee graphic design difficulties. Possible colour clashes as well.
As our side prides itself as being a reality-based movement, might I suggest an actual bowl of noodles?* If you put them in an actual purple bowl, and wear a green, white and violet sweater as a backdrop in front of which you could hold the bowl of noodles, then the graphics problems disappear (though you are left holding a bowl of noodles, which will still look like worms- sorry!). Should you encounter opposition, you can offer your critic a nice bowl of noodles! Should they persist and become aggressive, you can throw it at them. IANAL, so you might want to take the above suggestions (I am here talking about the offering of unlicensed noodles and/or hurling of same) with some caution.
