A judge ruled Tuesday that transgender people won’t face criminal charges for using Idaho public restrooms that match their gender identities.

Aka public restrooms reserved for the sex they are not. Idaho men won’t face criminal charges for using women’s public restrooms, so women in Idaho will just have to fend for themselves, sorry laydeeez.

“This ruling will allow transgender people throughout Idaho to find and use a public restroom,” Lambda Legal lawyer Kell Olson said in a statement Tuesday, “without the fear of arrest looming over them, while we continue the longer fight to permanently defeat this discriminatory law in court.”

And it may prevent women throughout Idaho finding and using a public restroom that doesn’t have a man or two in it.

People think they’re being KiNd, but they’re blithely ignoring the unkindness to women.

Out of curiosity, I just googled: Has any woman anywhere been assaulted by a male dressed as a female in a women’s toilet?

The latter ‘transgender women’ I take to be women dressed as men who enter men’s lavatories and such.

Or am I missing something?

I also asked it how many towns called ‘Birmingham’ there are in the world, and it replied: “There are at least 15 to 20 municipalities, towns, and cities worldwide that bear the name ‘Birmingham.’ While geographic databases list slightly varying numbers depending on the size of the settlement, the vast majority are located in the United States.”

What’s the contradiction; I read “more likely to be the targets” in the second sentence as “more likely to be the targets than to be the targeters”, rather than as “more likely to be the targets when utilizing facilities that match their gender identity”?

I would guess that the ‘legal protections’ are against assault (ie being verbally abused) and battery (being physically abused) in any and all public spaces easily policed against people being assaulted and battered, whereas the interiors of restrooms are more difficult to police.

Kings Cross is an area of Sydney renowned for its night life and ‘anything goes’ atmosphere. Years ago, in my wild and mis-spent youth, I used to live there. I also used to have a passing acquaintance with a bloke who was a keen footballer, and he told me once that there was nothing he and his team-mates liked better on a Friday or Saturday night than to go up to ‘the Cross’ as it was called, “for a spot of poofter-bashing.”

I would guess that the ‘legal protections’ are against assault (ie verbally abused) and battery (physically abused) in all public spaces, but the smaller the space, the more difficult the job of policing it.

Again, Omar, you’re misreading the second sentence – it isn’t saying that assaults are more likely in areas with legal protections for transgender people; it’s saying that of the assaults that occur, the target is more likely to be a non-conforming or transgender woman.
