Imaginary crimes

Nov 5th, 2020 9:54 am | By

No.

No, chum, that’s wrong. The concept of “blasphemy” is pretty much the reason we need the concept of freedom of expression and speech and thought.

“Blasphemy” is a stupid word, invented to defend stupid ideas about supernatural bullies who are vastly more powerful than we are yet still need us to defend them against rude remarks by non-believers. What sense does that make? Why can’t your god do its own defending or rebuking or punishing? Why does it need you stepping in? Why does it need you all stern and serious telling us what we can’t say?

Your god is a human invention. Humans invent gods, in large part as a way to bully other humans. Gods are just a story. If they’re real they can take care of themselves, and if they’re not it doesn’t matter what rude things we say about them.

Have a little self-respect. Have it for yourself and have it for other humans too. Let gods take care of their own concerns and let humans mock them if we feel like it. Don’t sweat the small stuff. Do something useful.

The wait

Nov 5th, 2020 8:59 am | By

Still waiting.

Trump still bellowing nonsense.

Donald Trump is again tweeting in all caps, making false claims about the remaining ballots left to be counted.

“ANY VOTE THAT CAME IN AFTER ELECTION DAY WILL NOT BE COUNTED!” Trump said.

He doesn’t get to make new law via a tweet. He doesn’t get to make new law at all; he’s not a legislator.

Also, this is the guy who deliberately sandbagged the postal service, by appointing a stooge who removed sorting machines and banned overtime, thus causing the mail to back up, thus causing votes to be held up. Now he wants to execute the second arm of this plot by shouting that postmarks don’t matter.

Why would we stop the count? Who is this maniac?

His lead in Georgia is shrinking.

After an update from the Democratic-leaning Fulton county, Trump’s lead over Joe Biden now stands at 14,857, or 0.3% of the total vote.

So STOPTHECOUNT.

The team cannot know the individual’s gender identity

Nov 4th, 2020 4:21 pm | By

National Geographic informs us of the discovery of a 9 thousand year old burial of a hunter of large game in the Andes who turned out to be a woman:

…the remains found alongside the toolkit were from a biological female. What’s more, this ancient female hunter was likely not an anomaly, according to a study published today in Science Advances. The Haas team’s find was followed by a review of previously studied burials of similar age throughout the Americas—and it revealed that between 30 and 50 percent of big game hunters could have been biologically female.

This new study is the latest twist in a decades-long debate about gender roles among early hunter-gather societies. The common assumption was that prehistoric men hunted while women gathered and reared their young. But for decades, some scholars have argued that these “traditional” roles—documented by anthropologists studying hunter-gatherer groups across the globe since the 19th century—don’t necessarily stretch into our deep past.

That seems surprising for at least two reasons: one, you’d think the male advantage in speed and strength would make a difference, and two, you’d think women’s childbearing ability would be too valuable to risk. It’s interesting.

In initial discussions about the toolkit, the researchers presumed the owner was male, perhaps a prominent figure of society, or even a chief of the group. “I’m as guilty as anyone,” says Haas, who has been working in the region since 2008. “I thought yeah, that makes sense with my understanding of the world.” Back in the lab, however, close inspection of the bones suggested the physiology of a biological woman. To confirm, they analyzed a protein that forms tooth enamel and is linked to sex.

So far so good, but then suddenly the wheels fall off.

Importantly, the team cannot know the individual’s gender identity, but rather only biological sex (which like gender doesn’t always exist on a binary). In other words, they can’t say whether the individual lived their life 9,000 years ago in a way that would identify them within their society as a woman.

Are they sure? Can’t they tell if she wore makeup? Played with dolls as a child? Kept losing her car keys?

The 2018 discovery does pose a challenge to gender binaries commonly assumed for our early ancestors: Men acted as hunters, women acted as gatherers. This assumption comes from studies of modern hunter-gatherers, where men more frequently are responsible for the hunt while women bear the most responsibility for caring for children, says Arizona State University’s Kim Hill, who specializes in human evolutionary anthropology and was not part of the study team. “You can’t just stop in the middle of stalking a deer in order to nurse a crying baby,” Hill says via email.

Plus children are a resource and you’d want to protect the resource from dangerous work like hunting.

It’s interesting, apart from the small eruption of New Gender Thought.

CBS is projecting Biden as the winner in Michigan.

Hahahahaha no Donnee that’s not how it works. You can “claim” it all you like but it doesn’t mean anything.

After the random number of …………….. he ranted about secretly dumped ballots. Twitter stamped “DO NOT BELIEVE THIS” all over both of them.

Look at this stupid nonsense. Why should they stop the count? Wtf? “Stop counting so that Trump can say he won!”? Uh, no, that’s not how this works.

Also – a bunch of people close together, shouting. Bad pandemic practice.

More attempted election theft, not from the Democrats, again.

https://twitter.com/Freeyourmindkid/status/1324083863103119360

When the Republicans stole the election that way in 2000 the Dems folded. They must not fold this time. (They shouldn’t have folded then either.)

Floundering in filth

Rudy Giuliani, former top NY prosecutor, is accusing The Wrong Party of stealing votes, on the basis of nothing whatever apart from the fact that he’s a piece of shit.

Quick fact-check on Giuliani’s tweet: there is no evidence of “massive cheating” in Pennsylvania or any other battleground state.

There is also no evidence that Pennsylvania Democratsare trying to “steal” the race. Election officials in the state continue to count valid ballots cast by election day.

This is America, where legal eagles tell lies about their rivals to help a hardened criminal steal a second term as president.

Thanks Milwaukee

Biden’s won Wisconsin. We’re not dead yet.

The announcement from Wisconsin aligns with the Biden campaign’s statements that they are optimistic the race is moving in their direction. Biden’s electoral vote count is now up to 248, meaning he will win the election if he can maintain his leads in Nevada and Michigan.

Trump is demanding a recount but it’s unlikely to make a difference.

Nevada says it will update its count tomorrow. That’s fine, you guys take your time, we’re in no hurry.

It’s shameful being an American at this point.

A distraction while we wait. Yaniv sues again!

A Canadian transgender woman is suing a beauty pageant company for refusing to allow her to compete in its contest, according to the Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedom, which represents the business.

But it’s a beauty pageant. It’s selective by its nature. Personally I don’t think the damn things should exist at all, but they do exist, and nobody expects them to include Joe of the beer belly and jowls to be able to participate.

Jessica Yaniv, a transgender LQBTQ rights activist, filed a human rights complaint against Toronto’s Canada Galaxy Pageants alleging it is in violation of the Ontario Human Rights Code, the conservative legal policy organization announced Monday.

In May 2019, Yaniv, whose biological sex is male, applied to be a contestant in the pageant’s “28 Years and Older Division” but did not disclose she was transgender and had yet to complete gender reassignment surgery, the Justice Centre alleged.

Or that he’s a litigious asshole, I bet.

Yaniv was tentatively accepted but also reminded of the pageant’s policy allowing only women or men who have “fully transitioned.”

When Yaniv was “reminded” of the policy, she filed a complaint alleging the pageant company engaged in discrimination based on gender identity, gender expression and sex.

But it’s a beauty pageant. It engages in discrimination in all kinds of ways. That’s the point of it – choosing The Most Prettiest. Discrimination is the core value.

The Justice Centre accused the activist of being a serial filer of human rights complaints. In 2019, Yaniv filed a series of complaints against five Vancouver estheticians for their refusal to perform bikini waxes on her because of her genitals. The B.C. Human Rights Tribunal later dismissed the charges and ruled Yaniv’s motive was to “target small businesses for personal financial gain,” not “prevent or remedy discrimination,” according to the Telegraph.

Now it’s time to target beauty contests for personal financial gain. Dude has a weird hobby.

He wants all voting to stop

Nov 4th, 2020 5:42 am | By

So now I’m picturing the Supreme Court justices huddling in their huddle room with Amy Coney Barrett all enthusiastic saying come on guys it’s time to stop the vote count the way Trump said to, that’s what I’m here for, what’s the holdup?

In any case, the fact that it’s this close after the past four years is absolutely disgusting. Who ARE these people?

At 2:30 in the morning his time Trump told some cheering people in the East Room that he had more votes in Pennsylvania at that moment so he wanted the vote counting terminated so that he could claim to have won. The cheering people duly cheered. There’s a slight technical problem with that which is he hasn’t actually won.

Addressing an election party in the East Wing of the White House early Wednesday morning, President Trump falsely and prematurely claimed victory in key swing states and pledged to go to the Supreme Court to stop votes from being counted.

If he’s won, why stop the vote counting?

What he said: “This is a fraud on the American public. This is an embarrassment to our country. We were getting ready to win this election. Frankly, we did win this election,” Trump falsely claimed.

“We want the law to be used in a proper manner. So we will be going to the U.S. Supreme Court. We want all voting to stop. We don’t want them to find any ballots at 4 o’clock in the morning and add them to the list.”

But finding and counting the ballots and adding them to the list is how this is done. Freezing the process at a moment when the incumbent has a narrow lead in one crucial state is not how this is done.

No it isn’t. It isn’t extreme at all. Trump is a very very very very VERY bad man. I can believe Bush junior is a decent guy in private. I think he probably has some redeeming qualities. Trump has none, and believe me I’ve looked. I’ve said for the past four years that I’ve never seen anything like it – anyone so thoroughly bad in every single detectable category. He doesn’t even have charm, he’s not funny, he doesn’t tell good stories, he’s not interesting, he doesn’t secretly put orphans through college. He’s bad. You would use him as the paradigm if you were explaining the word “bad” to a class.

Updated policy

Nov 3rd, 2020 11:42 am | By

Maybe this is where Amnesty International’s women-erasing new approach began:

Amnesty International releases updated policy on abortion

The updated policy recognizes abortion, provided in a manner that respects human rights, autonomy, and dignity, as the right of anyone who can become pregnant.

Well duh. Surely it did all along, even if it didn’t put it in that silly way.

“Around 47,000 women die each year as a result of seeking unsafe abortions. This global tragedy will not end until abortion is fully decriminalized and made accessible and affordable to everyone. Abortion must be treated like any other health service, and anyone seeking an abortion must be treated with compassion and dignity and with respect for their human rights,” said Rajat Khosla, Amnesty International’s Senior Director of Research and Advocacy.

“Our updated policy was developed in consultation with human rights experts, medical providers and the Amnesty movement, and informed by years of research and engagement with women and girls whose lives have been shattered by restrictive laws.”

So they are allowing the word “women” some of the time. That’s nice.

The new policy:

  • Recognizes that anyone who can become pregnant has the right to an abortion
  • Calls for universal access to safe abortion, as early as possible and as late as necessary, and for provision of post-abortion care and evidence-based abortion-related information
  • Recognizes that decisions around pregnancy and abortion directly impact the full spectrum of human rights
  • Calls for removing abortion from criminal and other punitive laws and policies, and to stop punishing women, girls and all pregnant people, healthcare providers and others for obtaining, assisting with, or providing abortion services

Ah there it is – women, girls and all pregnant people. In other words in their “updated” policy they now pretend that “women and girls” doesn’t cover it, they need to add “and all pregnant people” to appease gender fanatics. People who can get pregnant are female, aka women and girls, by definition. Dress and walk and talk and interact like a male truck driver, and have fun doing it, but if you can get pregnant you’re a woman.

If we stop talking about women’s rights we can’t defend women’s rights.

The eyeless women have it

And even more creepily, the cartoon women have no eyes.

Image

Wtf is that about? Laydee because hair n lipstick but front of head above nostrils is BLANK SPACE.

But don’t worry – it’s actually a brilliant tactic to make real people think abortion matters because it’s not just for those boring blank women.

https://twitter.com/laurasnapes/status/1323626930508279809

So if that makes sense then it makes sense to stop talking about women’s rights entirely, because women are too marginal.

Women and girls’ rights

Nov 3rd, 2020 8:09 am | By

It’s a funny thing; Amnesty International used to get it. It used to know that abortion rights are a women’s issue.

Help women and girls in Poland fight dangerous new restrictions on abortion

Women and girls’ rights are under attack right now in Poland.

Poland already has one of the most restrictive abortion laws in Europe.  Abortion is only allowed if the pregnancy is the result of rape or incest, if the woman’s life is in danger or in cases of severe or fatal foetal impairment.

Act now to support the rights of women and girls in Poland. Sign the petition to call on the President and Polish Parliament to reject further restrictions to the abortion law.

I can’t find a date on that one but it’s this year because it cites the court ruling from this year. But this news release is dated: October 22. Just 12 days ago AI still knew that it’s women and girls who need abortion rights.

The Polish Constitutional Tribunal’s ruling to invalidate the constitutionality of access to abortion on the ground of “severe and irreversible fetal defect or incurable illness that threatens the fetus’ life” (1) will further harm women and girls and violates their human rights, Amnesty International, the Center for Reproductive Rights and Human Rights Watch said today.

Women and girls. They could say it 12 days ago. Why can’t they say it today? What happened?

Amnesty International, the Center for Reproductive Rights and Human Rights Watch sent independent expert monitors to observe the hearing of the Polish Constitutional Tribunal and to analyze the decision.

“Today’s judgement puts the health and lives of women in Poland at great risk and violates Poland’s obligations under international human rights treaties to refrain from retrogressive measures that roll-back women’s rights to sexual and reproductive health care,” said Leah Hoctor, regional director for Europe at the Center for Reproductive Rights. “Poland must act now to bring its law into line with other EU member states and legalize abortion on a woman’s request or broad social grounds, and guarantee women’s full and effective access to care in situations where women’s physical or mental health is at risk.”

Women woman women. They can say it. They know how.

Say. the. word.

Say the word

Nov 3rd, 2020 7:39 am | By

Again.

https://twitter.com/amnesty/status/1322511304830144520

Women. The word is “women.” It’s not generic “people,” people in general, all people – it’s specifically women. It’s exclusively women. It’s not men who are being forced to gestate a human in their abdomens when they don’t want to, it’s women. Women only. The law in question is depriving women of very basic rights. Saying “I stand with people in Poland” is meaningless in a protest against laws banning abortion. It’s women we have to stand with. Women. WOMEN. Say our name. Say the word.

Where the hell does Amnesty International get off erasing our very existence and presence this way?
