This looks hopeful.

Maybe she just means she hopes Raif is released, as always…but then why mention the important meeting? More likely the important meeting was about some form of progress. So…here’s hoping.

    Fingers crossed! Maybe the Saudis are trying to buy some good press (or somewhat less bad press)? I hope they are not congratulated for undoing something that they should not have done in the first place.

    If Raif’s released, and allowed to leave, will we get another self-important press release from the usual troupe of “this is getting media attention because it aligns with Western, colonial, imperialist, Islamophobic agendas” types? Don’t they see how bad it is to be on the same side as a regime that confines half its population to what amounts to actual house arrest, whips and imprisons people who are only slightly critical of its actions, and tortures, dismembers and murders those who are more critical? It’s really not a good look.
