Fiends

Marion Millar put up a GoFundMe about 3 hours ago – the donations flooded in – so of course GoFundMe took it down.

Glinner sums up:

I hate that Marion Millar is going through hell at the moment, but I’m delighted she’s about to draw attention to the tactics used by trans rights activists, the ideologically captured police who empower and enable them, and the silicon valley companies that hold women down while this theft of their rights and resources is underway.

When she finally does get it going, share it everywhere. Use it to peak friends and family. Let’s get the light flooding in on this dangerous cult that has done so much in the darkness. The accelerating demise of Stonewall and the imminent demise of Mermaids were both only possible because women like Marion fought like tigers against what amounts to an ideological coup, and a fraud comitted by Stonewall that took in the whole country.

Self-ID has been held back in Spain and Germany, and feminist groups inspired by the UK movement are popping up everywhere. The ripples from this case will be felt all over the world, so Marion, don’t lose heart. This is a dying movement, certainly in the UK, and you’re about to deliver the final blow.

Location changed to PayPal.

Updating to add: hold off on donating for now because evil people are setting up fake accounts and running off with the cash.

Cancelled by GoFundMe? Never expected that. The “terms of service” of these social media sites must be on pretty flimsy ground. Why don’t they just say ‘We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone, for any shady reason we want.’ and be honest about it. I hope PayPal holds up for her, if they don’t, I’m dumping them.

Thanks for the link too, a worthy cause. This insanity needs to stop.

    Just sent a donation.

Careful! There’s a fraudulent PayPal in her name going around. Someone created a fake Marion Millar twitter account and PayPal, raked in 10,000 pounds then vanished. And her real PayPal’s been frozen too. Such a horrible day for Marion. Heartbreaking.

Arty, is the one linked in the OP correct? I sent a donation as well, before your post. I hope it’s legitimate.

I really hate the crap people pull. Hounding Marion Millar, pressing charges, interfering with her attempts at fundraising, fraudulently diverting funds. And what the heck is going on with GoFundMe (and maybe PayPal, too)? This is not the first shuttering of a perfectly legitimate fundraiser I’ve heard of.

Sack, I think PayPal puts a hold to investigate if someone reports the account, but it’s not shut down. I’m sure there are plenty of nasty trans cult “activists” that have falsely reported.

It would be nice if PayPal made it possible to tell which is which!

What was the TOS she broke?

Does anyone know what the other tweets were — the non-suffragette-ribbon ones? All I can find are references to that one.

I don’t. I think Glinner said something general but substantive about them, I’ll look…

No, must have been someone else.

Lily Maynard had an informative post about The Curious Case of Marion Millar.

Re Vokey and Etsy, this article noted:

On October 5, Vokey was informed by Etsy that her designs were removed from the site because they were found to be in violation of their rule against content that “promotes, supports, or glorifies hatred or violence against protected groups.” All of the items found in violation displayed her “I ♥️ JK Rowling” design.

Vokey also got in trouble at Printful and Redbubble for these designs (see the article). If I were cynical, I might think that people were following her activities and lodging complaints wherever she turned up, that it was no coincidence that her designs caused problems, while other similar designs didn’t seem to raise any eyebrows. If I were cynical.

the GoFundMe out is in their TOS: “for the legal defence of alleged crimes associated with hate, violence, harassment, bullying, discrimination, terrorism, or intolerance of any kind relating to race, ethnicity, national origin, religious affiliation, sexual orientation, sex, gender, gender identity, gender expression, serious disabilities or diseases, financial crimes or crimes of deception;”

so, false charges can cut off your ability to raise funds for a defence.
