Abigail Shrier has a couple of thoughts on the subject.
Here's how @ScienceBasedMed works: 1) Publish positive book review of a controversial book, written by a well-published physician 2) Editors deluged w emails from angry activists 3) Editors panic & delete review 4) Editors assert that they will "never cave to outside pressure." pic.twitter.com/Akm16rMO5t
Here is the editor at @ScienceBasedMed who retracted Dr. Harriet Hall's favorable review of my book, claiming her review "was below the minimal acceptable standard for SBM."
Yes, clearly, they're very serious about Science at SBM.
Jerry Coyne has a post related, and includes important excerpts from Hall’s review.
Note about the comments: None of this really has much to do with left. v right, it just seems this way. Many of the comments write Gorski off as doing this because “he is a leftist.” And anyone who uses that as a shortcut isn’t really serious about understanding what’s happening, they are just expressing their disdain. This is all part of what contributes to me no longer being able to handle Facebook, and I’ve even deactivated my Twitter account.
Dammit, it’s so disappointing when scientists fall for the cult.
That was nearly a year ago. Ain’t he cute with his MD, PhD and stuff, bless his little heart. :P

I was just reading that. Much useful information.
